↑ Strauhof Text and Display with uppercase alternates.
In an attempt to enhance the visual identity for the Strauhof Museum in Zurich, the idea was to create 2 new typefaces that would satisfy the desired functionality and aesthetic of the literature museum.
The Strauhof family we presented consists of a Text and a Display that draw inspiration from Blackletter type; manifesting more apparently in the Display cut from its contrast, darkness and sharpness. Following this idea, we chose to bring a twist to the family by including a set of uppercase alternates influenced by Blackletter capitals, allowing for further typographic explorations.

↓ Uppercase alternate set and initial sketches with their inspiration from the museum entrance.
↓ Character sets of both cuts; Strauhof Display and Strauhof Text. The Text cut presents a design more suitable for long text settings, with a reduced line contrast as well as more open counters and apertures creating slightly wider characters to enhance legibility in small sizes
